The red-hot Quebec conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin gets a chance to show his mettle in his new role as music director of this great Dutch orchestra, which pays a long-overdue visit to Toronto. Frenchman Jean-Yves Thibaudet appears as soloist in Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, with Nézet-Séguin and the band also offering French mystic Olivier Messiaen’s Les offrandes oubliées and German Romantic Richard Strauss’s larger-than-life tone poem Ein Heldenleben.Rick MacMillan
