This out-of-town weekend festival, led by artistic director and pianist Stéphane Lemelin, showcases Alexina Louie as its 2008 composer-in-residence, with performances of her works Bringing the Tiger Down From the Mountain II, Flash, Dénouement and Néon. Performers include the Penderecki String Quartet; clarinetist André Moisan, who is featured in readings of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581, and Johannes Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet in B Minor, op. 115; cellist Tanya Prochazka, who joins the Penderecki foursome in Schubert’s elegant String Quintet in C Major, D. 596; and the Canadian Guitar Quartet, to be heard in (of all things) an arrangement of the William Tell Overture.—Rick MacMillan
