Music director David Bowser conducts the orchestra for this season opener, in readings of the prelude to Wagner’s Die Meistersinger, excerpts from Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov’s tone poem Scheherazade, Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto no. 1 in E-flat Major (with soloist Peter Longworth), the overture to Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Beethoven’s Fantasia in C Minor for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra, op. 80 (introducing the NYCO Symphony Chorus).—Rick MacMillan
