Music Toronto’s Contemporary Classics series gets underway with an appearance by Hungary’s Keller Quartet—violinists András Keller and Janós Pilz, violist Zoltán Gál and cellist Judit Szabó. Formed in 1987 when the four were students at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, the quartet has won several prizes for its performances and recordings, including France’s coveted Diapason d’Or. This concert includes Hungarian composer György Kurtág’s String Quartet, op. 28, and Six Moments Musicaux, op. 44; as well as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Five Bach Fugues, K. 405 and Adagio and Fugue in C Minor, K. 546; along with Franz Schubert’s String Quartet no. 15 in G Major, D. 887.—Rick MacMillan
