The Marriage of Figaro

Opera Atelier debuts a new production of Mozart’s masterpiece, based on the play by Pierre-Augustin Beaumarchais that looks at love, betrayal and forgiveness through the lens of Europe’s then-shattering class structure. Director Marshall Pynkoski and choreographer Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg are behind the scenes; David Fallis conducts the Tafelmusik Orchestra and a cast that includes baritone Olivier Laquerre (Figaro), soprano Carla Huhtanen (his betrothed, Susanna), baritone Phillip Addis (Count Almaviva), soprano Peggy Kriha Dye (Countess Almaviva), mezzo-soprano Wallis Giunta (the page Cherubino) and mezzo-soprano Laura Pudwell (Marcellina).—Rick MacMillan
