The Aldeburgh Connection celebrates one of the 20th century’s greatest literary figures, a man who was also an accomplished tenor with a fondness for music. Soprano Katherine Whyte, mezzo-soprano Lynne McMurtry, tenor Michael Colvin and baritone Peter Barrett are featured, along with pianists and Aldeburgh co–artistic directors Stephen Ralls and Bruce Ubukata. The evening’s offerings range from grand opera to Irish street ballads; a highlight will be a newly commissioned work by Toronto composer James Rolfe.—Rick MacMillan
