Soaking up the luscious tones of this esteemed Canadian violinist—who won a Grammy Award in 2008, a first for the CBC Records label—is always a delight. He appears here in a recital with pianist Andrew Armstrong that includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s richly melodic Violin Sonata no. 9 in A Major, op. 47 (“Kreutzer”), Béla Bartók’s Rhapsody no. 1 and Ottorino Respighi’s Sonata in B Minor.—Rick MacMillan
