Two starry singers appear together in concert for the first time in Canada: Siberian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky and American-born, Oakville-based soprano Sondra Radvanovsky. They are set to sing a series of passionate arias and duets from La traviata, Simon Boccanegra, Tosca and other stage works by Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, accompanied by L’orchestre de la francophonie canadienne under conductors Jean-Philippe Tremblay and Constantine Orbelian. The performance coincides with the release, on the Delos label, of a group of Verdi scenes and duets by the pair, who have already appeared in joint concerts in Russia.—Rick MacMillan
