Staged for concert performance by Opera Atelier’s Marshall Pynkoski and directed by Jeanne Lamon, Handel’s English-language musical drama turns to myth for its dissection of the universal power of jealousy. Allyson McHardy sings one of Handel’s most vibrant creations: Dejanira, whose machinations lead to the death of the Greek strongman. Baritone Sumner Thompson takes on the role of the muscle-bound hero.
