Hannaford Street Silver Band and resident conductor Curtis Metcalf kick off their second quarter-century with Made in Canada: A 25th Anniversary Celebration. Devoted entirely to works by Canadian composers, the concert includes two previous HSSB commissions: Hannaford Overturem by J. Scott Irvine and Romance for Band by Gary Kulesha. Also in the lineup are the world premiere of Suite for Band by 17-year-old Oakville native Marcus Venables, Indian Daybreak by Philip Harper and Celebration by Donald Coakley. In a unique twist, world music ensemble Autorickshaw joins the band for some South Asian–flavoured tunes.—Rick MacMillan
