The Canadian Opera Company continues its winter run of Georges Bizet’s insanely popular ode to fiery gypsies, bullfighting and doomed love affairs. This co-production with Opéra de Montréal and San Diego Opera is directed by Australian Justin Way, conducted by maestro Rory Macdonald, and stars mezzo-soprano Beth Clayton—returning to the COC for the first time since 1998—in the title role.—Rick MacMillan
