The COC stages Claude Debussy’s only opera with this revival of a production last seen here in 2000, sung in the original French with English Surtitles. In the impressionist master’s timeless tale, Prince Golaud discovers the mysterious Mélisande lost in the forest near his castle. The smitten heir marries her and brings her to his home, where she is dangerously drawn to Pelléas, Golaud’s half-brother. Baritone Russell Braun and soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian return to sing the title roles, and bass-baritone Pavlo Hunka appears as Golaud. Nicholas Muni directs, while Jan Latham-Koenig conducts.—Rick MacMillan
