New York violinists Jonathan Gandelsman and Colin Jacobson, violist Nicholas Cords and cellist Eric Jacobsen are decidedly unconventional, taking their name from the Blue Rider group of expressionist painters. The quartet has played in Buddhist temples; cross-genre projects have included stints with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, arrangements of Armenian folk songs, and tunes by the Mexican art-rock band Café Tacuba. This lineup features Philip Glass’s String Quartet no. 5 and Claude Debussy’s String Quartet in G Minor, op. 10.—Rick MacMillan
