The final concert in the group’s 2008 season brings together violinist Hyng Sun Paik, flutist Julie Ranti, cellist William Findlay and pianist Bo Yon Koh for Symphonic Masterworks for a Very Small Orchestra. That moniker alludes to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony no. 41 in C Major, K. 551, originally written for an orchestra but heard here in an arrangement for just four musicians. Also more familiar in orchestral dress are Antonin Dvorák’s enticing Slavonic Dances, op. 46, which began life as a series of eight pieces for piano duo. The third work on the program, Trio for Flute, Cello and Piano by Dvorák’s fellow Czech Bohuslav Martinu, is the only one heard in its original form.—Rick MacMillan
