Will Gorlitz

Guelph figurative painter and national treasure Will Gorlitz gets a retrospective at MOCCA, where 20 years’ worth of endeavours will be shown, as well as a new body of work in the museum’s project room. Gorlitz has tackled diverse concepts with quiet intensity, many pertaining to the natural world: leaves floating on the surface of a lake to form the number eight, pages scattered over shore rocks, and equatorial animals surreally stranded amid arctic snowdrifts. Coincidentally, Gorlitz also has work on display down the street at Birch Libralato. Artwork not for sale.—David Balzer
