Ryan Trecartin and Peter Campus

An art world wunderkind and mad hatter arrives at the Power Plant with his eponymous exhibit, Ryan Trecartin Any Ever, an epic seven-part video work that marks his first Canadian show. Trecartin’s confounding and, despite appearances, highly scripted videos were first posted on YouTube in the early 2000s and are a brutal, flamboyant comment on reality television, social networking sites, cellphones, hip hop and other facets of Gen-Y culture. The pacific works of legendary London art-filmmaker Peter Campus are also on display, as a kind of old-guard antidote. Artwork not for sale.—David Balzer
