Rainer Ganahl’s last show in Toronto was on the topic of bicycles; it explored how they connect with his own physicality and consciousness, and how they are interpreted on a global scale. The New York–based artist’s latest work, Motherfatherdaughter, which consists of three videos and 15 photographs, deals with notions of memory, transit and borders. The videos concern the principals of his title, and together form a portrait of a family that has borne the vicissitudes of recent Romanian history. Artwork $20,000 (set of videos) to $40,000 (set of photographs).—David Balzer
