Peter MacCallum

Like any main thoroughfare in any major city, Yonge Street is a perpetual work-in-progress, its ever-shifting storefronts, rising condominiums and revitalization projects signs of our sundry tastes, ambitions and vices. Photographer Peter MacCallum, who has contributed over 700 works to the City of Toronto Archives and the Archives of Ontario, spent more than two years documenting the street’s recent changes, motivated by famous documentarian Walker Evans’s interest “in what any present time will look like as the past.” Artwork $1,400–$1,600.—David Balzer
