Working with corroded metal panels, black-and-white photographs and encaustic colour fields—the latter medium is draped over images of beaches and forests, symbolic of the pollutants that lurk beneath the picturesque surfaces—Margaretha Bootsma creates unsettling, dreamlike views of nature. Robert Cadotte also depicts natural landscapes, though with a significantly cheerier air. His chunky acrylic-on-board works show trees playing with the sun: the dynamic limbs dancing against the arresting skies that illuminate them. Artwork $1,000–$6,000.—David Balzar
