Light & Stone: Gems From the Collection of Michael Scott

This exhibit, made up of one of the most important private collections of its kind in North America, marks the simultaneous opening of the ROM’s Teck Suite of Galleries: Earth’s Treasures in the Weston Family Wing. Culled from the collection of former Apple Computer president Michael Scott, the booty on display is fulsome enough to make even Elizabeth Taylor envious: the Queen of Kilimanjaro tiara, for instance, boasts the largest faceted tanzanite gem in the world—set in 18-karat white gold, and surrounded by diamonds and garnets numbering in the thousands.—David Balzer
