Lia Cook, David R. Harper and Stephen Schofield

Three artists explore the darker side of craft-based portraiture in this Textile Museum show. Californian Lia Cook makes Jacquard-style tapestries digitally, using the unsettling faces of antique dolls as her subjects. Halifax’s David R. Harper embroiders items, from rib cages to Victorian-esque illustrated faces, onto animal hides. Montreal’s Stephen Schofield constructs larger-than-life male bodies out of old clothes soaked in sugar water and then inflated. Artwork not for sale.—David Balzer
