Two years ago, the Magenta Foundation published its Carte Blanche, a sourcebook and accompanying exhibition of the work of 230 Canadian photographers. Its 2008 follow-up is a compendium of painters: 190 of them, a selection of whom are the subject of a new exhibition at MOCCA. The approaches are diverse: emerging, mid-career and established names are all represented, from across the city, province and country. Artwork not for sale.—David Balzer
