Corinna Mozo brings French classics to the Ossington strip By James Chatto

Corinna Mozo has nearly come full circle. Born and raised in Montreal, she attended the Stratford Chefs School before heading to Boston to intern with the great Lydia Shire. As head of several successful kitchens (including Truc), she was lionized by the media and ended up staying for 17 years. But she wanted her children to grow up in Canada, and Toronto seemed to meet both familial and career requirements. In January, Mozo opened Delux on the blisteringly trendy Ossington strip, offering French bistro dishes in a casual setting. “The original plan was to combine French and Cuban cuisine,” she says, “but I can’t cook Cuban during Canadian winters. I just can’t.” One exception is a scrumptious pressed sandwich of molasses-cured pork loin on her house-made bread. Other Latin-influenced ideas will creep onto the menu as summer comes. Delux, 92 Ossington Ave., 416-537-0134.

  1. The best gnocchi in town. The cuisine at Delux is simply deicious and the restaurant is very child friendly.
