Ontario-only wine lists top our list

Ontario-only wine lists. It’s refreshing (literally and figuratively) to see more local rieslings and baco noirs on wine lists—unless we’re thirsting after some sauternes, in which case it’s annoying.
Charcuterie platters. They’re pretty and nice for sharing. But does every chef have to pretend he’s a medieval preservation master? (Curiously, the urge to make sausages seems to afflict only male chefs.)
Milk and cookies. Our inner ankle-biter was excited to see them turn up on dessert menus at places like Grace and Delux. But we changed our minds about milk as a digestif after lamb ragoût and three glasses of syrah.
Ubiquitous Miso Black Cod. It’s appeared on menus at Centro, Japango, Globe Bistro, Ematei, Chez Victor, Lee and so on, and so on. It’s flaky, tangy, succulent and boring already.
Communal Dining. It’s great in theory, but we’re Torontonian, and we don’t really like tablemates eyeing our frites.
