Best park for people watching: Trinity Bellwoods Park

The location of Trinity Bellwoods Park—sandwiched between Queen West and Dundas West—makes it prime leisure grounds for Ossington eccentrics, the vintage clothing set and old guys relaxing on benches (all of whom share the same fashion sense). It’s a Torontonian mash-up that provides an endless parade of fascinating creatures. On any given day, you’ll see somebody practising the guitar or flute, tightrope walking, walking their bunny, laughing at the albino squirrels or just sitting around smoking—and looking ever so good doing so. Not coincidentally, Trinity Bellwoods is also the best park for a surreptitious beverage.
Tip: Settle on a grassy knoll with a good view and an order of the delectable fish and chips from adjacent Chippy’s (893 Queen St. W.). The classic British dish is packed in picnic-friendly Chinese food takeout containers.
Where: 790 Queen St. W. (501 Queen streetcar to Strachan Ave.).
