Getting lippy: it-designer Marc Jacobs with his new Toronto paramour Getting lippy: it-designer Marc Jacobs with his new Toronto paramour

Boy Zone

Is there something in the San Pellegrino at Church and Wellesley? We’re not sure, but there does seem to be something about Toronto boys. One half of arguably the most famous gay couple in the world, Elton John and David Furnish, is from Toronto. Last May, Lord John Browne, chief executive of British Petroleum, resigned after it was revealed he had lied about his four-year relationship with a former rent boy from Toronto named Jeff Chevalier. And now, New York–based fashion designer Marc Jacobs has found true love (well, okay, hooked up) with another son of Hogtown, 20-year-old Ronaldo (“Ronny”) Giangualano. Late last June, photographs of the couple surfaced on the American gossip blog A Socialite’s Life. The images showed the two in full lip lock, accompanied by a squib detailing how after meeting on MySpace—where Giangualano goes by the name of Captain Homo—Jacobs flew the youngster to Paris for a rendezvous. The 44-year-old designer for Louis Vuitton has never had trouble attracting younger men, but a recent stint in rehab—and, more importantly, the shedding of excess poundage and the ratty hair and eyewear that had become his signature—has definitely helped boost his hottie quotient. Giangualano refused interview requests: his initial agreement (“Sounds cool”) quickly devolved into a no comment (“I’m kinda over the idea”), but his current status on Facebook indicates he’s married. Jacobs, for his part, has not yet announced any nuptials.—Ava Robertson
