Tearing a New One
Keeping up with the Tanenbaums and Rogerses in Forest Hill
King of the Hill: the buyer of 149 Dunvegan will
have the original owner as a next-door neighbour
In 1988, Sheldon Fenton, president of Reserve Investment Corp., became one of the first teardown artists in Forest Hill, buying a $775,000 home at 149 Dunvegan Road and replacing it with a 3,500-square-foot neo-Georgian pile. His new place has four bed- rooms, five baths and an above-grade basement; Fenton isn’t exagÂgerating when he says he spared no expense. He had to keep up with the Joneses: Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment kahuna Larry Tanenbaum and media mogul Ted Rogers live nearby.
Now he’s doing it again. When his neighbour at 151 Dunvegan mentioned she was thinking of selling, Fenton and his wife, Marilyn, snapped the place up for $1.45 million. With the help of Richard Wengle Architect, they’re building a new home. MeanÂwhile, 149 Dunvegan is listed with Royal LePage’s Elli Davis for $4.15 million.
