THE ECOCAB
In brief: A pedal-powered taxi plastered
with ads and funded by corporate sponsors.
Cost: Free, thanks to corps such as Lipton
(which throws in an iced tea with every trip).
Speed: Up to 21 km/h.
Verdict: No motor equals no
CO2 emissions, and the open-air design means no dreaded cabbie BO. For this summer, a limited fleet means rides must be 12 blocks or less, so enjoy that buff student driver while you can.
