Citytv’s New Year’s Bash 2009 at Nathan Phillips Square
The granddaddy of good, clean NYE parties takes place once again at Nathan Phillips Square. Join the all-ages crowd for performances by Suzie McNeil, Danny Fernandes and the cast of Jersey Boys. Citytv lifer Gord Martineau—as close as Toronto gets to Casey Kasem—hosts the event with colleagues Tracy Moore, Kevin Frankish and Dina Pugliese.

Sixth Annual Family Countdown at the Toronto Zoo
Parents can let the kids explore the delights of the Toronto Zoo by twilight before letting them cheer on the High School Musical tribute performance. Singer Pat Silver hosts the sixth annual countdown show, which also includes Care Bears and Majinx magic. Plus, since the zoo’s countdown happens at 9 p.m., parents can make it to their grown-up bash a few cocktails shy of midnight.

Downsview Park’s Trail of Lights
The last night of this festival sees Downsview Park transformed into an enchanted forest, with 400,000 LED lights adorning its paths. Visitors wind their way along the 1.7-kilometre trail before topping off the night with a hot drink at the park’s holiday village.

An Edwardian Christmas at Spadina Museum
Spadina Museum’s sumptuous Edwardian decor transports visitors back in time to the early 20th century—the heyday of the Austin family, who once occupied the vintage rooms. Escape the holiday madness and settle in for an afternoon in another, calmer era, whose holiday traditions are recreated in detail.
