Classic wintry dishes require little else but a trip to the butcher and a sturdy casserole dish. This Mario Batali pot is cast iron à la Staub or Le Creuset, but half the price of French cookware. As in the more expensive versions, the interior is glazed, and the inside of the lid has little bumps that collect moisture and help baste the dish as it cooks.
