"There is, of course, a more difficult truth here", says David Balzer. How ironic! Balzer chooses to identify the issue of White and Indian "haves" living in the midst of Pakistani "have-not's". Indeed, this is an issue. However, it is BY FAR NOT the most difficult truth here. It's clear that Balzer harbours antipathy to the U.S. His resulting bias leads him to ignore the much more difficult truth regarding widespread Pakistani support for terrorism and anti-semitism. Since this truth is so completely obvious and all-encompassing in the movie, one really has to wonder about its blatant absence. At the very least, the omission is an odd oversight. At its worst, suppressing this truth is an abuse of journalistic power (and, given Balzer's comment on journalists' neutral pursuit of truth, more's the irony!!)
I was right there with Balzer as he reviewed the movie for its merits as a film. But, when he exploited the movie review to make political commentary, especially given that his political commentary is skewed to support only the grinding of his own particular axe, he exposed his bias.
Poor! Absolutely poor!
