Footie Fetish

Last year, Toronto FC came in dead last in the eastern conference, but you wouldn’t know it from the jam-packed bleachers. We braved the bordering-on-freakish fandemonium at this year’s home opener to find out what the team’s most enthusiastic supporters would be willing to do for a win and why TFC kicks serious Blue Jay butt. Sarah Swenson, 20
Job: Photographer
TFC is better than the Leafs and the Jays because: We stand a chance of winning this year and bringing home some hardware.
To help TFC win, I would: Swim with gators, flip a car, eat cockroaches—any of the disgusting things you might see on Fear Factor.

Fab Biagi, 31
Job: Firefighter
TFC is better than the Leafs and the Jays because: We support the team when times are tough. We aren’t bandwagon jumpers.
To help TFC win, I would: Name my next kid De Ro. It would have to be the middle name. I told my dad I would name my son after him.

Glen Faulknor, 43
Job: Civil servant
TFC is better than the Leafs and the Jays because: Football is so much better than hockey or baseball.
To help TFC win, I would: Give up relations with my wife on the nights before games to ensure maximum game-day energy.

Salomon Salvador, 25
Job: Bookkeeper
TFC is better than the Leafs and the Jays because: Our games aren’t a bunch of people sitting down and keeping quiet.
To help TFC win, I would: Streak naked all the way up and down Yonge Street, but only if it would guarantee the championship.
