For house-hunting hipsters, the logic is clear: so what if you’re broke when you can say you live in Beaconsfield?


Blame the Drake: the average house price in Beaconsfield Village has shot up by 94 per cent since Jeff Stober’s canny purchase of the rundown hotel in 2001. But you can still buy into the ’hood for under 500 grand. That is, if you act quickly.


1. Where: 146 Lisgar St. A fully renovated Victorian, it was listed in November for $699,000 (after selling in June for $392,000) and sold in December for $801,000.

2. Where: 23 Northcote Ave. Listed as a reno opportunity in April 2007 for $399,000, it sold for $475,000, got an overhaul, and flipped in December for $620,000.

3. Where: 54 Northcote Ave. A two-storey, two bedroom, one-bathroom aluminum-sided row house, it was listed at $419,000 and sold for $441,000 in December.
