Globe trotting

Media Darling
From the look of things, Rachel McAdams’ career hasn’t been hampered by her much-publicized breakup with Notebook co-star Ryan Gosling. She currently has three films in various stages of production, the most anticipated being State of Play, in which she and Brad Pitt star as investigative reporters. To prepare for their roles, both actors visited journalists at The Washington Post—something the paper wasn’t ashamed to report in its own pages. (According to the piece, work “came to a virtual standstill” while Pitt was in the newsroom.)
Since then, we’ve learned that McAdams also paid a visit to The Globe and Mail. According to sources, the sexy starlet was “really nice,” wore “really high heels” and sat in on a news meeting before talking to various reporters about their jobs. They included Life section writers Siri Agrell and Hayley Mick and investigative reporter Greg McArthur. Displaying very Canadian—if surprisingly unjournalistic—restraint, the Globe put its writers under strict orders not to talk about McAdams’ tour of duty. No doubt she wishes those irrepressible Hollywood gossip hounds were capable of the same reticence.—Antonia Greene
