Five brunch restaurants worth waiting in line for

The leisurely weekend breakfast is a way of life in this town, where the hungover seem happy to wait an hour to share their misery over eggs. Not all brunch spots are created equal, however. Here, in descending order of fabulosity, are the top five places that are worth the wait.
1. One, Yorkville’s prime perch, is known for its A-list clientele and pricey cocktails, but it should also be famous for serving the city’s best Benny. Lemony hollandaise, impeccably poached eggs and crisp toasted brioche set a new standard.
2. Gallery Grill’s vaulted ceilings make this hushed space feel like a brunch cathedral. Chef Suzanne Baby aims for fresh and local and does both spectacularly: the delicate frittata with brie and house-cured duck prosciutto will make you a believer.
3. Brunch at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen—whether fluffy blueberry pancakes or smoked-salmon eggs Benedict—makes waking up worth it. Don’t skimp on the sides: buttermilk biscuits, rosemary bacon and sweet fennel sausage.
4. The dining room at Brad’s could use a new paint job (less purple, perhaps?), but the food is spot-on. Hungry Roncey families pile in on the weekend for unbelievable pancakes topped with crunchy walnut pralines.
5. The long wait at Saving Grace is a drag, but once the impossibly fluffy scrambled eggs (with caramelized zucchini, red onion, tomato, red pepper and provolone) arrives, all is forgiven. 907 Dundas St. W. (at Bellwoods Ave.), 416-703-7368.

Of course, any such list like this is very subjective. But I think that "Stonegrill" Restaurant in Cabbagetown (Parliament and Winchester) is unique enough in its own right to be on any top-ten list. Any list like this list needs enough variety to not seem boring or repetitive. Hence Stonegrill.
The Stonegrill method presents your selection on a heated lava stone from Australia, and cooks before your eyes to the exact level you want. The ambiance and wine list are luxurious enough to qualify for fine-dining, while the pricing ($25 and up per entree) is manageable enough to invite most through its doors. And their brunches are often accompanied by live music as well. I highly recommend.
