Now that Yorkville is becoming the new Forest Hill, the old Forest Hill has decided to get in on the deal. 112 St. Clair, the first of three ultra-high-end condo towers on the stretch between Yonge and Spadina, opened last year. A Page & Steele retrofit of the old Unity Life building, it’s next door to the gorgeous, brick-fronted Park Lane Apartments, where Glenn Gould lived for much of his adult life. According to Merrilee Morton, a sales rep for the project, a number of the new owners are lifetime Forest Hill and Rosedale residents who started out renting on St. Clair, moved their way up to the big houses, and are now getting nostalgic for those apartment days. Two unfinished penthouses are still available for $3.6 million apiece. That buys 4,000 square feet, two storeys and 180-degree views of Forest Hill. But some nostalgia seekers apparently want more. Sotheby’s agent Avie Cook has been showing the spaces to two potential buyers, both interested in uniting the two halves into one behemoth whole.
