How the Degrassi: Next Generation actor would spend a single perfect day. Toronto on an unlimited budget By Amy Verner
I’d wake up to find flowers delivered from Teatro Verde (55 Avenue Rd., 416-966‑2227)—an arrangement of exotic lilies, anthurium and cymbidium orchids ($350)—to remind me of warm weather. I’d give myself just enough time to enjoy some fruit and a few cups of coffee before heading over to the Walter Carsen Centre at the National Ballet of Canada (470 Queens Quay W., 416-361‑9498), where I’d take a Dance-Teq class taught by former principal dancer Kevin Pugh
($15). I used to dance almost every day after school but now it’s more of a hobby. Oh, and of course I would be chauffeured around in a Hummer for the entire day (Book Me a Limo, 1-877-546‑6665, $2,200). Brunch at Cora’s (277 Wellington St. W., 416-598-2672) with four of my friends would definitely be next. I’d have crêpes with strawberries, scrambled eggs and fresh grapefruit for added potassium (breakfast for five, $70). Next up: shopping in Yorkville. I’d buy the latest, hottest pair of skinny J‑Brand jeans ($245) at TNT Blu (55 Avenue Rd., 416-972‑1593). I recently saw these amazing boots by Marsèl ($1,195) in the window, and I’d pick up a pair of those, too. Over at Holt Renfrew (50 Bloor St. W., 416-922‑2333), I’d make a beeline for the Miu Miu heels ($495) and a cocktail dress from Diane von Furstenberg ($525)—her designs are so wearable and current. On the concourse level below Holt’s, I’d stop at Travel Choice (50 Bloor St. W., 416-967-3411) and book a week-long luxury vacation in Hawaii with business class airfare (approximately $23,000) as a Christmas present for my parents, Sylvia and John, and sister Esther. Then I’d have a chocolate-wrap manicure and pedicure with my mom at Lux Spa (25 Bellair St., 416-921-1680, $104). I would also go see Masoud at Toni & Guy (102 Bloor St. W., 416-920-7775)
for a blowout ($65). Tired of shopping, I’d take my German shepherd, Sully, for a long walk in Riverdale Park. She was originally trained to be a Seeing Eye dog, but they failed her because she was too friendly. Along the way, we’d stop for a Starbucks hot chocolate ($3). After changing into my new dress and shoes, I’d head over to Blowfish (668 King St. W., 416-860‑0606) and meet a bunch of my closest friends for sushi; we’d take the whole banquette along the wall and basically order everything on the menu (dinner for 16, $880), plus Dom Pérignon ($2,800 for eight bottles). Afterwards, we’d cruise along Queen West in our Hummer and hit the Social, the Drake and the Gladstone. By 3 a.m., I’d be exhausted. Back at home, I’d wash off my makeup, chug a bottle of Fiji water ($3) and pass out.
