Jeanne Beker and Evan Biddell walk in Bustle show, but Robin Kay steals the spotlight
By Thursday’s final Bustle show, the closer of LG Fashion Week, most of the celebutantes had left the Exhibition grounds on their way to fashion parties, like the Women X Women exhibit at Thrush Holmes Empire and Tommy Ton’s, featuring model Agyness Deyn, at Studio Gallery. But before the show began, Robin Kay stood behind a velvet rope on the runway and gave an incoherent speech, in which she announced that she had become the publisher of Flare and Elle and the host of Fashion Television. Then she sat down. April Fool?
Kay’s a hard act to follow, but Bustle—best known for putting on local celeb–filled spectacles—made a go of it. Last season, Rick Mercer and Shinan Govani walked the runway; this year, Bustle enlisted such fashion notables as Jeanne Beker, designer Evan Biddell, model Stacey McKenzie and hairstylist Jie Matar to participate. Beker held court on a couch, tweeting on her BlackBerry, while the others stomped down the catwalk. Biddell walked out to a roar of applause and grabbed his crotch for the cameras, but when Matar came out in sunglasses, perhaps unrecognizable, the cheers had died down.

Toronto society turns out for the Joe Fresh show and celeb model Crystal Renn
Joe Fresh Style, as we all know, is the show to see and be seen at each season. And, since it conveniently follows the Pink Tartan show (conveniently designed by Mrs. Joe Fresh, Kimberley Newport-Mimran), most of fashionable Toronto society—Galen Jr. and Alexandra Weston, Lynda Reeves, Tommy Ton, Jian Ghomeshi, Tanya Kim, Trevor Born, Susur Lee and so on—turned up to have their photo taken by George Pimentel, their names bold-faced by Shinan Govani and to pledge allegiance to the Mimran fan club. A big-name model always opens Joe; this year, it was the very gorgeous, very trendy and very famous “plus-size” model Crystal Renn (quotation marks are necessary, since Renn was hardly any larger than the other models) and one of the faces of the ’90s grunge scene, Kirsten Owen. Oh, there were clothes, too (view them in our slide show below), but who goes to Joe for the clothes, anyway?

Thirteen-year-old makes Flare editor cry, H&M organic line is not organic, Jimmy Choo emulates Tommy Ton
• Are Tommy Ton and Jimmy Choo starring in the sequel to Single White Female? Ton thinks so. Earlier this morning, Toronto’s famed street-style snapper pointed an accusing finger at the luxury shoe company when he tweeted, “Is it me or does the Jimmy Choo 24:7 campaign look a lot like…ahem…you know what I mean :S.” Truth be told, it doesn’t take much inspection to see the striking similarities between the images Ton shoots for his blog, Jak and Jil, and Choo’s new campaign. • Fashion editors were appalled when 13-year-old blogger Tavi Gevinson sat front row at the Dior couture show, wearing a gargantuan bow atop her head. Flare editor Lisa Tant tweeted, “Sobbing to think that a 13-year-old gets a front-row seat to cover couture. No justice in this world.” Meanwhile, Jeanne Beker took to Twitter, calling Gevinson’s bow “outrageous.” Both women later said their comments were taken out of context. Apparently “outrageous” is a good thing in the fashion world, but burning bridges is not. [Mondoville]

Collagen for feet, short-lived trends of the 2000s, Audrey Hepburn’s clothes sell for $437,800
• A collection of Audrey Hepburn’s couture dresses and accessories was auctioned off in London, generating more than £270,000 (about $437,800). The centrepiece, a Chantilly lace cocktail gown, was estimated at £20,000, but sold for an astonishing £60,000. The pieces are all lust-worthy but are perhaps better suited to a mannequin than a real person. In order to fit into the outfits, the wearer must match Hepburn’s diminutive 32-22-34 frame. [Daily Mail]
• We usually associate opera stars with barrel-chested men and Rubenesque women. But Miuccia Prada, who is designing costumes for the Metropolitan Opera’s spring production of Attila, disagrees. Apparently, Prada took one look at the supernumeraries (non-singing actors and extras) and said, “I cannot clothe them! I need models!” The Met is now conducting model castings, despite those who insist supernumerary work is about how you move, not how you look. Unfortunately, good models are experts at both. [Paper]

GQ didn’t alter January Jones’s breasts, Karl Lagerfeld calls model critics “fat mummies,” Torontonian named top fashion blogger

January Jones on the cover of GQ
• The Telegraph has published a roundup of the 20 best fashion blogs. Included are some unsurprising picks (The Sartorialist, Bryanboy), but Toronto’s Tommy Ton also got a nod for the photo-heavy Jak and Jil Blog. [Telegraph]
• The 15th anniversary of Nars cosmetics is being fêted with a celebrity-packed coffee table book titled 15×15. Stealing more buzz than the tome itself is a photo inside of a shirtless Marc Jacobs in bright red lipstick and nails. The shot was inspired by a Richard Avedon picture of ’60s model China Machado. We get the pose and nail polish, but what’s with the trucker moustache? [WWD]
• Critical Shopper Mike Albo visits the Lululemon in Lincoln Square and discovers what Canadians have known for years: there’s no better gear for downward dogging than Lulus, not to mention how good they make our butt look at the gym. [New York Times]
