POLL: Are you underwhelmed by Target Canada?
POLL: Are you underwhelmed by Target Canada?
The American retail giant’s dismal third-quarter earnings are yet more evidence that its ballyhooed Canadian expansion missed the, er, target, with local shoppers. Target brass and retail experts have identified a host of problems: it had trouble finding a balance between empty shelves and excess stock; the initial surge of customers hasn’t returned to stock up on household basics; and the Canadian market offers stronger competition than expected. The common perception that the discounter is more expensive than its chief rival Walmart—as well as Target’s own American stores—isn’t helping much either.

I will often go into Target in the US and drop $3-400 on Target Brand products I don’t really need – but they are so CHEAP in relation to the above Walmart quality I can’t help myself. Pricing here is overly inflated and I think my biggest shop has been for about $130, most of which was just regular old household products I could have picked up anywhere. Basically, they’re Zellers with a new logo .. and I didn’t shop their much either.
The Target near me is a much, much, much more pleasant place to shop than Walmart or Costco or Canadian Tire or the late Zellers. Lots of staff (who are actually able to assist), wide aisles, super clean, lots of tills open. That goes a long way with me and is worth paying an extra couple bucks for dog food and vitamins or whatever. Of course maybe part of the reason it’s so pleasant is nobody else is shopping there …..
They also said that Canadians haven’t fully embraced the idea of “one-stop shopping”. uhhhh… Walmart? Costco? Great Canadian Superstore? and to a certain extent Shoppers Drug Mart? I only go to Target to get things you can’t get at Walmart.
When CDN prices are 15-35% more when 90% of us live 2 hours from US stores, then they’ve screwed up.
Why would I want to buy cheap junk from China that I could get at the dollar store (if I wanted)?
I need less crap in my home, not more! And the stuff I do want can’t be disposable anymore.
Who has time for this anymore? Also, are most people not ordering things online now and taking advantage of online coupons, free delivery, and online discounts?

We Buy & Sell Used Trucks!
We will work with you one on one to help you retail or wholesale your trucks.
(We have many references). We only need you to send us the specifications as
well as pictures of the interior & exterior of the truck(s) and let us go
to work. All we ask is if there are any issues with the trucks please inform
us. It never hurts having another salesperson working for you for free. The way
we get paid is we add $1,000 to your bottom line price. When we receive a lead,
we call and email you with the person’s information. You then will set up a
time to show them the truck or trucks. If they buy from you, we will invoice
you for $1,000. It’s that simple!
We can also locate used trucks at fair prices. We call on 7,000 companies
throughout the USA every 2.5 months and do come across fair prices.
