Move over, Kristen Stewart. Twilight’s Team Edward fans now have a new actress to obsessively hate. Toronto’s Sarah Gadon has been pegged to play Robert Pattinson’s estranged wife in David Cronenberg’s upcoming film Cosmopolis, which is shooting in Hogtown this summer. Gadon’s role was initially going to be played by Inception star Marion Cotillard, but the French actress had to back out after becoming pregnant. Enter Gadon, a regular on the Canadian small-screen circuit, with roles that range from the children’s program Ruby Gloom (see YTV appearance, left) to Life With Derek, The Border and Being Erica. More recently, Gadon played Emma Jung, wife of Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung, in another Cronenberg film, A Dangerous Method, currently in post-production. A tip to Gadon for staying in the good graces of Twihards: perhaps stay away from the supposedly smelly former vampire, and opt to hang out with fellow cast members Paul Giamatti and Juliette Binoche instead.

Its boots were worn by soldiers during the Civil War, and Teddy Roosevelt and now by Barack Obama.
Jessi Cruickshank moves to L.A., MTV cancels the After Show

One of our favourite moments (Image: YouTube)
After our favourite fiery-haired MTV host, Jessi Cruickshank, confirmed that she was moving to L.A. for a still-secret job, MTV has canned her reality show recap show The After Show. Apparently, the prospect of Dan Levy hosting the show solo or with Cruickshank’s Kelly Ripa replacement wasn’t palatable to the station’s execs. MTV VP Brad Schwartz said they “can’t imagine doing ‘The After Show’ without both Dan and Jessi together; it just wouldn’t be the same.” Have no fear, Levy fans, he’s getting his own show this fall, though the details haven’t been confirmed. To say farewell to the beloved reality show recap show, we’ve compiled a few of our favourite recent After Show moments, after the jump.

Tee hee: Toronto Star says Twilight stars James Pattinson
Sure, we all make mistakes, but when a paper runs a story about Twilight and says it stars James Pattinson, we are obliged to take a screen grab. It’s like a blogging rule or something. (Robert Pattinson, a.k.a. the most lusted-after teen heartthrob other than Justin Bieber, is the actor’s actual name.) Both the story, which is credited to Reuters, and the photo caption made the error. Ah, those disgruntled wire reporters.

With the biopic The Runaways opening on Friday, the question circulating among film critics down south is sure to be, “Who is Floria Sigismondi, anyway?” But in the music world, the director of the film, which stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, is something of a legend. As we reported earlier today, she directed Marilyn Manson’s killer “Beautiful People” video and has worked with The Cure, Christina Aguilera, the White Stripes and David Bowie, among others. For a piece about the new film and Sigismondi, the New York Times tracked down her most famous collaborator for comment.
Kristen Stewart a no-show at Toronto premiere of The Runaways

In case there was ever any doubt, Joan Jett—music’s original riot grrrl—really doesn’t give a damn about her bad reputation. And after seeing photos from the various American premieres of The Runaways, the new film about Jett’s first group, the game-changing band of the title, we could be forgiven for hoping for a similarly rock-and-roll spirit at the film’s Toronto premiere last night. It’s not like we were actually expecting to see the lady-loving trailblazer accompanied by her slouchy onscreen counterpart, Kristen Stewart, or the holy-Toledo-she’s-not-as-angelic-as-she-looks Dakota Fanning, who plays Miss Cherry Bomb herself, lead singer Cherie Currie, but one can dream. After all, the writer-director Floria Sigismondi got her start working on music videos here in Toronto, which led to gigs with The Cure, Christina Aguilera, the White Stripes and David Bowie, and finally to her feature film debut starring two of pretty young Hollywood’s prettiest, youngest things.
The best chef in the world, butchers as sex symbols, Drake wants to open a T.O. restaurant

Vampire sighting: Kristen Stewart was spotted at a Vancouver sushi restaurant this week, dining with co-star Robert Pattinson (Photo by Laura Ramos)
• Rapper and Degrassi alum Drake says he wants to open a restaurant in Toronto, but he’s also planning another album and a few films, so the culinary dream might be a few years off. The “Best I Ever Had” singer is known to be a fan of Vivoli, so we wouldn’t be surprised if his potential menu included pizza and cocktails. [Rap Up]
• Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were seen celebrating at Miko Sushi in Vancouver last weekend. The pair is in town to film the third Twilight movie, Eclipse. We assume he left a generous tip this time; the servers at Il Cantinori in New York weren’t pleased when he left them a paltry 14 per cent. [New York Daily News]
