Junos report: Bieber and Drake have it bad, real bad
Who needs hardware when you have a homie? Justin Bieber may have left last night’s Juno Awards empty-handed, but Stratford’s favourite fever starter accepted defeat like a trooper. Perhaps it had something to do with the ceaseless stream of adulation from the legions of teen girls filling St. John’s Mile One Centre (oddly, they weren’t so jazzed about April Wine), but we suspect it had more to do with all the attention The Biebs was getting from his new bestie, Drake.
Bieber broke out in a fanboy grin when the Best Forest Hill Ever Had joined the pint-sized popster for his hit single “Baby” (the adorable pair was even clad in complementary shades of blue). He could barely contain himself when Drake snagged the New Artist award from under him (and gave him big ups for his work ethic). By the time they got to sing shoulder-to-shoulder for a group rendition of K’naan’s “Waving Flag,” he was damn near apoplectic.
Other Toronto-related—and, let’s be honest—faith-affirming highlights included K’naan’s win for songwriter of the year and Metric’s win for group of the year. But our favourite part? When Olympian Alexandre Bilodeau did what everyone has been thinking for years and accidentally called awards sweeper Michael Bublé “Michael Bubble.”

frack Justin Bieber
Oh Canada, why do we elevate a talentless (can you say “pitch correction software”) marketing joke to the status of “New Artist Award” nominee. He is not “New” – this kind of marketing to teeny boppers has been around forever, and he is not an “Artist” – my 14 year old son could do the same, just give him a fancy haircut and support him with the latest & greatest recording technology.
I agree with the two posts above. maybe I’m just an old bitter fart but can you say jimmy osmond?
bitter? yes, i beleive you are. i dont like his music, so i dont pay attention to him. thats what normal people do when they arnt a fan of someone elses music. other people like him, thats there opinion, i have mine, but i certinly wouldnt complain about his lack of talent, esspecially when his talent is obvious. yeah, he sings poppy sht, but give him some half-decent material that isint manufactured to take advantage of the pre-teen demographic and even i would be changing my tune. meanwhile, i’ll stop short of insulting him, because, i dont know about you, but i cant play the insterments he does, i cant dance like he does, and i certinly cant sing like that.
im completely appalled with the way people hate on him. i may have to start a campaign to sheild a child from hate. hes 16 years old, give the kid a break for christs sake. maybe if Canada had the industry involved with actually funding young talent he could have turned into a better artist sooner. its not his fault he had to be shipped down to the states and turned into an under-age idol to break into the business.
try not being a jerk, even if your somehow more talented, we all now know hes nicer then you.

Hoked on fonix werked for G
Thus my point stands proven. People love to insult others just because they can.
“the flash” obviously has nothing of value to say, otherwise they would argue my point rather then resorting to grammar corrections.
perhaps english is not my first language? Or perhaps I grew up without an education?
Thanks a lot. March on keyboard warrior.
While it is possible to consider this all a bad joke, as it appears on surface, the more positive outlook is to consider that whenever pop music gets this wretchedly meaningless something emerges to wipe the manufactured junk off the map.
That time is nearing, and we know it’s not going to be any of the label acts at the Junos who will be part of the revolution. Now THAT is something to be wavin’ flags!
