Fashioned after a traditional Chinese garden stool, this reproduction from Queen West’s Jalan is a sophisticated update. Ceramic is the material of choice for the classic version, but this one is hardwood, and definitely not for the outdoors. Instead, try using one as a bedside or end table or for extra seating in a more contemporary space, where a hit of apple red will add the warmth and character that modern furniture often lacks. Bonus: the stools are currently marked down from $250 to $195 each.
