Target is coming sooner than we thought, but we still have to wait until 2013
Target recently confirmed a few things that we didn’t already know about its upcoming debut in Canada: 24 locations will be introduced into Canada beginning in March 2013, and they are all in Ontario. Toronto will be getting four off the bat, including stores at Cloverdale Mall, Shoppers World Danforth, East York Town Centre and Centerpoint Mall. Those in the downtown core will have to commute, either by entering a car or taking public transportation, but it might be worth it, should you desire Snack Paks, Missoni for Target (or whatever designer collab is happening at the time) and a toilet brush. Happy hunting.
Typical. Always Ontario first. >.>
The stores in the U.S. will probably always be better. Americans demand a higher level of customer service than we do (in other words, Target stores actually have staff on the floor that ask you if you need help). Canadian stores may start off with a bang in this regard, but I’m betting after awhile they’ll be just like any other chain retailer (Bay, Zellers) – they’ll be nobody working there.
Well, I remember when Wal-Mart first came to Canada and they had greeters at the door to meet shoppers like their US stores did. After a few months, they had to get rid of them because shoppers were complaining that they didn’t want to have to talk to them when they came in, so if that’s an example, then yeah, we Canadians reap what we sow.
When value on service is not considered part of the price in the buying equation, customers will always complain about the lack of it. Look at the Bay this year. Line ups of angry nasty customers wanting more and more discounts…because price is all they were selling..I’m a downtown shopper, Burlington, Oakville, Port Credit. Yes price may be a bit more but the service is why it’s a wonderful experience to shop!
What’s the deal with that “Target Apparel” chain that squatted on Target’s good name years ago, which just misled consumers and then they had the audacity to claim the name as theirs??
Pedro: Recently, it’s been confirmed that Target Apparel will stop using that name and allow Target to use its brand in Canada.
I for one, am so happy, even though I wish they’d announce Quebec openings already. >>
