Nylon magazine gives shout-out to young Canadian designers

Flip open the September issue of Nylon and you’ll find four Canadian labels featured inside: Evan Biddell, Greta Constantine, Marika Brose and newcomer to watch Amanda Lew Kee. All of them are making their mark in Toronto. The two-page shout-out, titled “Oh, Canada,” naturally, is thanks to Toronto’s 90210 starlet Shenae Grimes, who picked her favourite homegrown designers.

It’s major exposure for labels that are in their infancy; Kee, for example, just graduated from Ryerson in the spring. It also means that hipster girls in the making and Gossip Girl fans (Jessica Szohr is on the cover) are watching some of Canada’s rising fashion stars. We knew they would catch on.

  1. I am so happy to see some of Canada’s great designers in the pages of Nylon. That means a lot for Canada and gives us a stepping stone for Canadian designers to be known world wide! Kudos to all Canadian designers keep working hard!!!
