At the Wavelengths party at The Drake, everyone was on the same wavelength: must get laid

It was late into the night Wednesday when we hit the Wavelengths party at the Drake Hotel, where an eclectic crowd of creative types moved slyly around the various rooms. After some red wine and chatter among film buffs, it became clear that everyone was pretty much there to get laid. Those of you who have had a chance to ride the festival carousel will know the formula: dramatic films + free booze + a lot of people from out of town staying in hotel rooms = loose morals.

Perhaps last night, being the seventh of 10, the ante was up for finding a lay as people are fretting that the lavish parties will soon disappear from their social calendar. Either way, we knew that when the bald man with sunglasses asked us “Are you having fun at the festival?” what he really meant was “Will you give me a lap dance?” Amused but not aroused, we realized that, come next week, everyone will revert back to JDate, Lavalife or Plenty of Fish, because nothing this horny will take place until the company Christmas party in late November—and that is far less exciting than shacking up at the Four Seasons with a filmmaker from France.—Jen McNeely
