This year’s Amnesty International Human Rights Film Festival features a rich slate of provocative and timely (if sometimes difficult to watch) films, including a 12-minute short called Let’s Talk About It from Canada’s Deepa Mehta.
The short, screening at 6 p.m. on Saturday, allows victims of domestic abuse to speak out. Other titles of note include the opening night film A Child’s Century of War, (7 p.m. Friday night), Aisha Bain, Jen Marlowe and Adam Shapiro’s Darfur Diaries (4 p.m., Sunday) andOne Dead Indian (6 p.m., Sunday), about the death of Dudley George at Ipperwash Provincial Park. Eye-opening stuff to be sure.
The Amnesty International Human Rights Film Festival takes place at the NFB Cinema, 150 John St., from Friday, October 27 to Sunday, October 29. Admission is pay what you can.
