- Yes, McAdams showed up—but where has former flame Ryan Gosling been? The Gos is pretty much the hottest thing going right now. If he showed up, the foundations of capitalism would surely start quaking.
- Sarah Polley used to be a raging activist. What happened? Now is her chance to win back some street cred. Sure, she’s pregnant, but that’s no excuse when you’re down for the cause.
- Feminist author Naomi Wolf was arrested during the protests in New York this week. We’d love to see Margaret Atwood throw some of her political clout behind the movement with an “End Corporate Greed” sign or two.
- Rapper Talib Kweli performed at Occupy Wall Street. What are the chances of Drake finding his social conscience and getting all political alongside Toronto breakout star The Weeknd?
- Frankly, we’re surprised something has been going on for a week in Toronto and not a single member of Broken Social Scene, which is currently on hiatus, has made an appearance. We’re pretty sure more than half the city was affiliated with the band. It’s about time front man Kevin Drew dropped by, perhaps accompanied by Feist.
- Donald Sutherland raised a fist in solidarity with Occupy Vancouver protestors this week. We say it’s high time Ontario’s own Gordon Pinsent or even Montreal’s William Shatner braved the weather and got their protest on, old-school style.
- Dave Matthews seemed to be everywhere during TIFF, but we suspect Occupy Toronto’s makeshift tent city is more to the jam-band legend’s tastes than the glitz and glamour of the film festival. The man has his own flavour of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, after all.
