Unions continue to make it easy for Rob Ford to win the PR war
Sid Ryan, the president of the Ontario Federation of Labour, is accusing Mayor Rob Ford of seeking potential scab workers in the event of a January work stoppage. Rumours that the city will lock out workers have intensified in recent weeks, and it looks like things might get ugly. According to the Toronto Star, at an OFL convention Ryan offered this: “Are you prepared to come down to city hall and get your arms around it and start that conversation?” We already noted that this kind of sabre rattling plays to Ford’s advantage. The 2009 municipal workers’ strike is still fresh in the city’s collective conscious, and talk of encircling city hall isn’t likely to help labour’s cause in the early stages of the public relations battle. The pro-union messsage/movement would be so much more effective if its leaders just acted a bit more professional.
Unions have so much to offer, but their leaders are too unpolished, rude, and incoherent.
I suppose they are acting much like that rude no class Mayor.
It is interesting why anyone would be in favor of busting unions when they should be backing them and creating a better work environment for all people regardless of their jobs.
If people were treated right and not like dogs there would be no reason to have unions.
As for those who hate unions you are naive and have no understanding of how organized labor works , you listen to propaganda form the right wing self serving populace who care about themselves while claiming the unions are the cause of the city’s financial situation.
