Beloved airline and free
alcohol dispensary Porter Airlines celebrated its fifth birthday this month by expanding service to Timmins. The local airport provides access to the hamlet’s many attractions and serves as an important gateway to the rest of Northern Ontario. The three daily flights begin January 16, 2012, a month after Burlington, Vermont, is also added to the roster. This latest destination is one more tiny reason to choose Porter, especially with Air Canada hell-bent on a strike. New flights and beer versus pissed-off flight attendants—you decide.

200 residents ? think again more like 45000 residents
October 31, 2011 at 12:23 pm | by markWhy would you make a dick comment like this? This is why people hate Toronto. I’d encourage you to not act like this.
October 31, 2011 at 1:00 pm | by Paul DTypical TO mentality. If it were not for Timmins and the north, you would not have Maple Leaf Gardens (steel funded by McIntyre Mines of Timmins) , Bay street (early mining pioneers helped fund the need for the current TSX), vast amounts of Tax $$$ that never make it back into our pockets but help fund southern growth, and much more to lengthy to waste time on here!!!
October 31, 2011 at 1:39 pm | by Jim MOh yeah, forgot to add that the Deluces (Porter founders) operated in the north area and lived in Timmins as former owners of Austin Air Ways.
October 31, 2011 at 1:41 pm | by Jim MStupid comment. The writer should be fired. I’m a Torontonian and the comment about Timmins is not reflective of my thoughts. Go POrter!
November 1, 2011 at 9:17 am | by planeviewGotta love those journalism ass clowns from Toronto.

agree with all the comments…where does this idiot journalist hail from? Better research any future articles this dodo brings forward.
November 3, 2011 at 11:20 am | by S. SwansonDeluces originated from the northern town of Chapleau and they even have more than 200 residents
Have you ever been anywhere outside of the GTA? Of course not because like most of the “elite” of Toronto, you think , Ontario ends at the Muskokas. Well Mr. Hamilton maybe you should learn to research and read about something before you write about it. Oh I am sorry it is obvious you cannot write so that reading would be a non starter.

November 21, 2011 at 5:54 pm | by Joel BlackHey Hamilton, maybe you should get off your fat rear, get your facts straight and quit writing about Justin Bieber gossip, you tool.
November 21, 2011 at 6:42 pm | by BertsHow did you even get this job?! Are you not educated at all?! Ever heard of research before you make assumptions that the population of Timmins is 200?! You’ve just insulted 45’000 people.
November 21, 2011 at 7:13 pm | by A.Dear Mr. KEvin Hamilton.
Im not here to tell you how to do your job. You’ve clearly demonstrated your years of hard work and countless hours of research within this masterpiece of journalism. I am from Timmins, and let me tell you,all 200 of us were very excited to hear that a journalist from the big city decided to write about our town. Sarcasm aside the content of the article was quite informative, however your choice for a headline shows that you just reach for the sensational pitch in the story… no matter how far of a stretch, or outlandish… So because of that you suck. Seriously. Get your head out of your ass.
November 21, 2011 at 7:44 pm | by DomiIt was a joke you idiots. Calm down.
November 21, 2011 at 8:14 pm | by EricIt’s things like the insult to Timmins in the title of the article that make me want Northern Ontario to become its own province!
December 11, 2011 at 2:53 am | by Neil J.I agree Neil J. instead of letting the South decide who can pillage our resources to ship overseas and out of province stealing our jobs.
