Year in Review: the 10 best suites from Condomonium

Whether you’re in the market for new digs or not, ogling other people’s homes and judging other people’s decor (or at least their stager’s chops) is rollicking good fun. That’s why we scour the city each week for the most beautiful, most luxurious, most over-the-top condos for sale and post full photo tours. Here, our favourite 10 units from the past 12 months.

10. 319 Lonsdale Road, Unit 1D

The place: A three-bedroom condo in a 1920s-era apartment building in Forest Hill.
The price: $1.4 million
Why we love it: With two levels, a lower-level rec room and a private garage, it feels more like a house than a condo.

9. 380 Macpherson Avenue, Penthouse 614

The place: A spacious, Art Deco–inspired penthouse in a loft conversion near Casa Loma.
The price: $1 million
Why we love it: The fancy, grown-up decor (hand-painted wallpaper, tiled ceilings and thick brocade curtains) proves condos aren’t just for first-time buyers.

8. 700 King Street West, Unit 612

The place: A three-bedroom condo in the clock tower of a former King West office building.
The price: $1 million
Why we love it: The tower’s two clock faces form the living room windows—doesn’t get much cooler than that.

7. 1 Benvenuto Place, Unit 503

The place: Charles Khabouth’s two-bedroom suite in The Benvenuto, a modernist building on Avenue Road.
The price: $1.3 million
Why we love it: It’s just what you’d expect from the club and restaurant king: dramatic, luxe and a little bit flashy (note the stacked Louis Vuitton luggage in the living room).

6. 11 Woodlawn Avenue West, Penthouse 6

The place: One of two penthouses in a church conversion near Yonge and St. Clair.
The price: $1.2 million
Why we love it: The great room’s cathedral ceiling and dramatic windows are a witty nod to the structure’s former life as a church.

5. 55 Stewart Street, Unit 438

The place: A three-bedroom party pad in the Thompson that was formerly owned by an MTV exec.
The price: $1.7 million
Why we love it: Room service, maid service and the chance to schmooze with rap stars and the prime minister during TIFF? Sign us up.

4. 110 Hepbourne Street, Unit 103

The place: A two-level, three-bedroom suite in a former Sunday school near Dovercourt and Bloor.
The price: $1.2 million
Why we love it: It’s the antithesis of a box in a mega tower: a multi-level ground floor unit with low maintenance fees.

The place: A sprawling (4,400-square-foot) loft with five bedrooms, two levels and beautiful exposed ceilings.
The price: $3.2 million
Why we love it: We’ve never before seen a condo with its own central courtyard. It’s completely stunning and utterly private.
